Rule Change!

We now have a rule regarding the use of the "Combining Cyrillic Millions" symbol ( ҉ ), along with the use of embedded style modifiers that convert text to a Right-To-Left reading format. This technique of reversing text may possibly end up corrupting the board system's databases, not to mention it is somewhat annoying. Please read the full outline of the rules here.

lol, I just added a small section to the beginning of the reverse symbol rule (second last one).

Not those directly but they can cause serious data corruption in the forums databases as they are only designed to hold generic alplanumeric text without extras.

but upside-down text doesn't use a style modifier, it uses legitimate alphanumeric symbols, look in the page source, the text will show upside-down there too

But the thing is, I don't think it would be wise to take a chance. Alt Codes, far as I'm concerned, are all right. Letters and the other "easy" symbols are fine, but please don't use reversed\upside-down whatever letters.

My concern isn't soo much that some use symbols and some don't..its just a pain in the rear to read if the words are back to front, reversed or upside down.

exactly, but the upside down characters just use special alt codes, there's no style modifier, so there's no chance of data corruption

We need to get back to basics... this forum feels like a huge mess... maybe we should get rid of a lot of the forums... and go back to what we used to have. Just start over fresh...

I don't agree with starting over. What did we used to have that we don't have now? What do we have now that we didn't used to have? Perhaps it will allow me to better understand what you said.

Um, lack of activity, that's what we have now, that we didn't have then. Don't you get it? With so many forums, people just get discouraged... Maybe we need to get rid of most of it... get back to just randomness... remember?
